Corey A. Savage possesses a zeal for the Word of God that is expressed through his love for God’s people. Pastor Savage enthusiastically serves as the Senior Pastor of Plum Grove Baptist Church located in the historic West End of Tuscaloosa, AL. Under the leadership of Pastor Savage, Plum Grove emphasizes spiritual growth and development, dynamic community fellowship, caring for the community at large, and impactful worship.
Pastor Savage was born in Fayette, AL and has always been a son of the Black Baptist tradition. He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Unity Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Savage’s parents emphasized the importance of serving in God’s house and he learned sacrificial to give his talents of singing and giving under their watch. Pastor Savage also displayed his gifts in school as he played the saxophone and drums in the band, sang in the school choir, and lettered in three sports.
After graduating from Fayette County High School in 2005, Pastor Savage attended. Bevill State Community College on full scholarship and obtained an Associates degree in Communications. He then transferred to Auburn University where he would earn a Bachelors of Social Work degree in 2009. Pastor Savage has been a licensed social worker in the state of Alabama for 12 years and has worked in various social work positions from foster care to juvenile justice.
Pastor Savage’s ministerial journey began in 2016 when he accepted his call and was licensed later that same year under Dr. Tyshawn Gardner. He was ordained in 2017 and began serving as Youth Pastor at the Grove and would later become Executive Pastor in 2020.
Currently along with his responsibilities at Plum Grove, Pastor Savage is a School Social Worker for the Tuscaloosa County Schools, Programs Director for the Citizens Impacting Community Association, member of the 2022 Class of Leadership Tuscaloosa, and an active member of Delta Phi Lambda chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
Pastor Savage graduated from Beeson Divinity School at Samford University with a Master of Divinity in the Spring of 2022. While there he served as the Vice-President and founding member of the Minority Student Fellowship and was a school ambassador for two years. Prior to graduation Pastor Savage was awarded the Pastoral Ministry Award for excellence in the study of Pastoral Theology and Pastoral Care to his community.
Pastor Savage finds great joy in faithful marriage to the love of his life, Coretta, in 2010. He shares that same elation in being the father of their four beautiful children Ayla, Carter, Brenna and Dawson.
